Gaelic football, and the culture of community-based volunteerism that it’s based on, is a way of life for many people in Trillick. Trillick football club won its first senior championship in 1937 and won the senior league in 1937, 1938 and 1939. 37 more years were to go by before Trillick won the championship again, in 1974 (reaching the Ulster Final in that year). Effectively the same nucleus of players won the championship in 1974, 1975,1980, 1983 and 1986 before losing the final replay in 1987. In that period, Trillick also won senior league titles in 1973, 1977, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1987.
Trillick had a remarkable record of consistency during that period. Apart from 1979, for 15 years, the 70s/80s Trillick team either won or finished runners up in a major competition for a decade and a half:

In 2008, Trillick won the division 2 (intermediate) men’s county final, and also gained promotion back to senior (division 1) football for 2009 and then topped off a successful year by winning the Ulster Club title.
With the current men’s team, Trillick has created more than a decade of consistency. Trillick won senior county league titles in 2022, 2023 and 2025, and senior championship titles in 2015, 2019 and 2023. In the 11 years from 2015 to 2025, Trillick has either won or finished runners up in a major competition in 7 out of those 11 years:

This century has seen a tremendous growth in women’s and youth involvement, and the club’s 4 pitches are in constant use.
Trillick’s women’s team are in Division 1, and won the Tyrone Junior Championship in 2018.
In 2025, Trillick’s women’s team won the Division 1 league title for the first time; thereby completing a Division 1 league double for the women’s and men’s teams.
